If you receive a call from someone trying to sell your parent's insurance and you suspect it may be a scam, there are several steps you can take to protect your loved ones.

1.   Ask for Detailed Information: Request the caller's name, the company they represent, and their contact information. A legitimate insurance agent should be able to provide you with this information.

2.   Verify the Company: Research the company they claim to represent. Check for reviews and ratings from reliable sources. You can also contact your state's insurance department to confirm the company's legitimacy.

3.   Be Wary of High-Pressure Tactics: If the caller uses aggressive or high-pressure tactics to pressure you into making a quick decision, it's a red flag. Legitimate insurance agents will give you the time to make an informed decision.

4.   Never Share Personal Information: Do not provide personal or financial information over the phone unless you know the caller's legitimacy. This includes your Social Security number, bank account details, or credit card information.

5.   Report Suspected Fraud: If you believe a scam targets you, report the incident to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and your state's insurance department. They can provide guidance and investigate the matter.

6. Be cautious when dealing with unsolicited calls and offering insurance products over the phone. Always take the time to verify the legitimacy of the caller and the company before making any decisions or sharing sensitive information.
